About Me

what do I write?

Ernest Hemingway said of writing that "All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know." When I write, this is what I seek to do. I don’t hold back when it comes to gritty descriptions, potentially offensive content, or language. I try to connect with my characters and their situations and am often surprised by where they lead me.

A few things that may be found within my writing:
Picture
Diversity in the LGBTQ spectrum with particular emphasis on transgender individuals. Many of my books focus on the voice of underrepresented or misunderstood points of view.

I did a brief stint with a funeral home a few years ago and I'm very interested in death (customs, psychology, biological aspect etc.) I find mortuary science quite intriguing, and suicide, necrophilia, and violent deaths are some of my favorite things to write about.

Religious exploration. I don't write inspirational books; however, I grew up in a staunchly LDS environment. The influence of an oppressive conservative childhood tends to creep in amongst my thoughts...

The brain and psychology are incredible! I'm often drawn to writing about psychiatric medication/treatments, anxiety, and depression. There are themes of medical technology with the brain "gone wrong" throughout my work.

What Do I Read?

I try to keep all our books updated on LibraryThing. It's a great resource for keeping track of the collection :) As you can see, Jayme and I have many varied interests... And several copies of The Great Gatsby.
